New tdctrade.com Service

The total sourcing solution offered by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC) now helps buyers find suppliers at the TDC's myriad fairs in Hong Kong.

The sheer number of choices available at these fairs makes it even more important that the time-pressed buyer with specific targets in mind is able to locate the right items and suppliers as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Precision sourcing has now been made easy for international buyers in Hong Kong, thanks to the new, free and extremely user-friendly tdctrade.com sourcing online service.

"This is fantastic - it's a beautiful service," enthused Falco Int'l (Pty) Ltd director Andre Daniell, who used tdctrade.com sourcing to identify microwave and scale suppliers with their respective booth locations at the recent Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition).

Linked to a highly-efficient search engine, tdctrade.com sourcing helps buyers find interesting suppliers and products via a comprehensive database.

The database contains background information and product details of some 100,000 suppliers, including exhibitors at Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC) fairs as well as those who advertise in the council's 14 trade magazines and online sourcing platform.

Inputting product details into the computer instantly generates a list of relevant suppliers with booth numbers, contact details and product photographs in both hard copy and email.

The service is accessible from terminals strategically located at different locations at TDC fairs at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and AsiaWorld-Expo.

Buyers can also call for assistance from 30 onsite helpers, while a mobile team scattered around the fairground also offers service and help to visitors.

"The service is good - it gives me a list of relevant suppliers and is really comprehensive," said Girish Enterprises director Girish Kanungo, who was sourcing electronic accessories, components and parts such as headphones, microphones and components for the Indian market. "I will definitely use the service again and recommend it to others."

Equally enthralled was frequent fair visitor Prashant Ghelani. "This service is very good, and makes it far easier for us to look for suppliers," said Ghelani, managing director of Map Equipments, a Singaporean importer of electronics for sale to Indonesia, Malaysia, India and Bangladesh.

He insisted he too would "definitely" use tdctrade.com sourcing again. "I have just done a search for electronic accessories and will go on to search in other categories," said Ghelani. "I am here to get more suppliers and good prices, and this service will definitely help me achieve that objective."

His view was shared by John Ma, purchasing manager with Raidtech Inc of the US. "It is pretty nice to have this service," opined Ma, who imports, distributes and sells GPS devices, mobile phones and small accessories on the West Coast of the US and Canada.

A first-time visitor to the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition), he was glad that the service spared him wasteful effort in locating suppliers. "It's helpful," Ma said. "It looks like those on the list are the suppliers I am looking for."

The tdctrade.com sourcing initiative likewise appealed to South Americans, such as Juan Manuel Perez Saldias, chief executive officer of ciudadeje.com, a Colombian firm engaged in website construction, information technology and advertising.

"The service is very useful - efficient, fast and helpful," observed Perez Saldias, who searched for data on media player trends. "It will definitely help me in sourcing, because it gives a directory of the information that we need."

The new service was also lauded by buyers from the Chinese mainland market. "I've been to other trade fairs in the US and Germany, but I haven't come across such a useful service," said Deep Zhou, marketing specialist for I Micro Electronics Ltd, a Chinese mainland manufacturer of USB pen drives and memory cards for the global market.

He was sourcing products as well as components for USB pen drives. "I am also taking a look at new designs on the market," said Zhou, who noted that the service was fast, convenient and easy to use. "I will recommend the tdctrade.com sourcing service to my colleagues."

Enabling buyers to identify target suppliers accurately ensures tdctrade.com sourcing spares them a lot of hassle, as a Hong Kong visitor to the fair pointed out.

"I am impressed by this service, which helps me zero in on our target products," said Fong's National Engineering Co Ltd electronic engineer K.O. Tong, who was sourcing new components and devices for his company's dyeing machines and dyeing machine controllers.

He added that the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is huge, but tdctrade.com sourcing gave him a list of target suppliers booth numbers and website links.

"It gives me all the information I need, so I know exactly where to go to find things, saving me time and making it easier for me to find what I want."

These resounding rounds of applause for tdctrade.com sourcing clearly indicate that this innovative trade support feature will be a huge success with buyers and suppliers, who can now connect with a click.
