Convention & Exhibition Business: Market Trends
The 23rd edition of FILMART attracted more than 880 exhibitors from 35 countries and regions. Being Asia's largest film and entertainment event, FILMART served as a platform for media industry players to explore collaboration opportunities. ASEAN countries such as Thailand showed great interest in venturing the Greater Bay Area, hoping to explore cross-border production opportunities. FILMART featured 14 thematic seminars in which industry leaders in film, TV and digital entertainment shared their insights.
The SmartBiz Expo was an event where small- and medium-sized businesses seeking opportunities that were innovative, creative and utilised the latest tech and design. This year the expo was divided into several themed zones: Techtopia (featuring latest applicable technologies), Envision Lot (focusing on global invention), Hatchey (presenting worldwide innovation and technology startups), Pathfinder (helping SMEs in overseas trade) and Boosters (offering solutions for enhancing competitiveness). These zones offered opportunities for international vendors to see what are emerging and gain new business. It attracted more than 520 exhibitors from 40 countries and 12,000 visitors this year.
The Asian Logistics and Maritime Conference 2018 brought together some 70 global industry experts and over 2,100 business delegates from over 30 countries and regions, with government leaders and officials. ASEAN's connection with Hong Kong and the rest of Asia was mentioned in the keynote address. With greater inter-regional connectivity, opportunities are emerging from technologies like blockchain and hyperloop. The forum featured many speakers from the aviation and maritime industries, with seminars and networking opportunities.
