Reform and Liberalisation Announced for Beijing’s Services Sector

The State Council has called for the further reform of Beijing’s services sector. Following its 11 July session, the Council emphasised the need for sustained efforts to reduce market access restrictions in the major services sectors, while highlighting the importance of deepening the reform of the foreign investment management system and accelerating the promotion of trade facilitation with regard to the services sector. In terms of the priorities for the next round of liberalisation, the Council cited the importance of six particular sectors – scientific and technology services, cultural and educational services, financial services, commercial services, travel services, and health and medical services.
