K K Plastic Fty Ltd manufactures bottles and cosmetics jars from PE, PVC, PET, PETG, PP, PS and ABS
A casual look around any home proves it is impossible to live without at least a few bottles. Much of this thirsty market is tapped by eager Hong Kong bottle manufacturers such as K K Plastic Fty Ltd.
The 24-year-old company's catalogue sports a colourful array of plastic bottles for both hair and skin care products, including PET lotion bottles in different colours such as blue and yellow.
Complete with pump dispensers and clear caps, they are available in assorted sizes such as 100ml, 120ml and 150ml. Each size costs US$0.25 each ex-factory Hong Kong, while a 30ml PS double-tube bottle with pump dispenser and cap (KB0052S) sells for US$0.50 ex-factory Hong Kong.
K K Plastic produces bottles with PE, PVC, PET, PETG, PP, PS and ABS, mainly from Singapore and the US. It designs its own products and also entertains OEM orders.
"The minimum order size is generally 10,000 units," sales manager David Lee says. "Delivery time varies with the order quantity, but is usually 3-4 weeks."
K K Plastic, which also makes other plastic products like cosmetic jars, sells to customers from different places including Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland, Europe, Japan, Singapore and Israel.
While it runs a small factory in Hong Kong, its major production facilities are in Shenzhen, Dongguan and Jiangmen on the southern Chinese mainland and cover more than 80,000 square metres and employ 2,000 workers.
Colour is also important to Austex Development Ltd, which produces PET bottles for different liquids such as mineral water, shampoo or flavouring. "They can be clear or tinted various colours, like blue or brown," manager Harrison Kung explains.
Minimum order size is 20,000 units for items with existing moulds, and 50,000 for those that require new moulds, with prices depending on quantities and materials.
The firm also utilises plastics such as PP, HDPE, LDPE, PS, PETG and ABS, imported from Taiwan, Japan and Thailand.
Austex's ISO 9001-certified, 320,000-square-foot factory in Fujian Province on the mainland employs some 500 workers, half of whose products are sold on the Chinese mainland and the remainder in the US, Europe and the Middle East. Depending on the item, products can be delivered 20-30 days after order confirmation.
Its mainland factory, established in 1985, supplies bottles of its own design and also welcomes OEM orders. "We're always looking to produce brand name items on an OEM basis," Kung says.
Austex also manufactures acrylic cream jars in mininum quantities of 10,000 units as part of its cosmetic packaging range. "They are higher-end products that reflect the crystal fashion," Kung notes.
The company also makes AS frosted cream jars, for which the minimum order size is 20,000 units. "Our products suit the US and European markets as they follow the trends," Kung notes.
Clearly keen is Excellent Style Packaging (HK) Ltd, which produces a series of clear, blown PET bottles. "They are for cosmetics such as face lotion," marketing officer Jeff Chan explains.
The caps come in an attractive silver colour. "They are vacuum-plated," Chan notes, adding "we can also do gold." A 30ml version sells for US$0.16 on an FOB Hong Kong basis, while a 60ml version is priced at US$0.17.
Established in 1997, Excellent Style uses raw materials like PET, ABS, SAM and PMMA, mainly from Japan and Taiwan. The ISO 9001-certified company makes its own designs and also engages in OEM, exporting to Australia, Canada, France and Malaysia.
Excellent Style, which also manufactures cream jars, compact cases and lipstick cases, produces about one million items every month at its 10,000-square-metre Dongguan factory, which employs 300 workers.
Similarly productive is Golden Well OK Industrial Co Ltd, which has a production capacity of two million bottles per month. Its extensive product catalogue includes a clear PVC bath gel bottle with raised knobs. "They are for massaging the body," director and manager Ken Ngan explains.
It is also selling a blue PE soap bottle, as well as a transparent PE drinking bottle complete with a black lid. "It's for sports such as cycling," Ngan notes.
Golden Well also produces a chic blue PVC bottle with a concave waist and a nozzle at the top. "It's for spraying water on plants or clothes before ironing," Ngan notes, adding "we stress style."
Raw materials include PE from Japan and Singapore, PP from Korea, PETG from Malaysia, EVA from Japan, ABS from Taiwan and PVC from the mainland.
Minimum order size varies with the model, but is at least 10,000 units per style delivered in 2-3 weeks. The company offers a catalogue of existing products while it also engages in OEM. "We're making many doll-shaped bottles for brand name OEM customers overseas," Ngan says.
Founded in 1980, the ISO 9001-certified company runs a factory in Shenzhen on the mainland that occupies a 30,000-square-foot site and employs 130 workers.
With local suppliers offering quality bottles such as these at highly competitive prices, filling orders in Hong Kong is definitely cause for celebration.
