Perfectech Int'l Packaging Products Co Ltd offers a wide range of packaging products, including PVC blister packs and cardboard folding boxes
Perfectech Int'l Packaging Products Co Ltd is actively engaged in the manufacture of a wide range of products, including PVC blister packs and cardboard folding boxes.

A member of the Perfectech Int'l Holdings Ltd Group, its business is conducted internationally in addition to supplying local and Chinese mainland manufacturers. The firm also offers PVC trays, tubes, stationery boxes, pipes and sticks.

In 1983, a production base for paper novelties was established in Zhuhai on the southern Chinese mainland, followed by further expansion in 1988. Today, all production procedures are carried out on the mainland, while marketing and administration operations remain in Hong Kong.

In October 1992, the Group successfully listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange. Thereafter, continuing to grow through merger and acquisition, the Group further expanded its interests into lines such as the specialised printing of carton boxes, the production of corrugated cardboard, and the trading of pigments and associated dye products, PVC film and plastic materials as part of the supply infrastructure of the print industry.

"For example, Perfectech Colour Centre Ltd specialises in the mixing of dyestuffs for industrial use," says Director Ip Siu On. "We also trade in plastic and the raw materials needed in the packaging industry so that we can ensure obtaining the best possible prices from our well-connected raw materials suppliers."

Another subsidiary acts as an in-house supplier of printing services. "This work is undertaken by Perfectech Printing Co Ltd, which besides supplying goods to the Group's companies also manufactures various other products suitable for the packaging industry," says Mr Ip.

"We can do both four-colour offset printing and silk-screen printing, and we use highly sophisticated machinery and processes to ensure quality and efficiency and a flexible output," he states. "We can also offer complex packaging-plus-printing services and a completely new line of paper-based boxes."

He also mentions Perfectech Plastics Ltd, which is involved in the trading of various plastic materials such as PVC chips and resins, and Perfectech Paper Products Co Ltd, which is one of the leading suppliers of corrugated cardboard and carton boxes.

"This is an ideal situation for us on the packaging side as all of these services and capabilities enable us to qualify as a one-stop shop," Mr Ip says.

"Modern demand is for more sophisticated packaging materials than the days of simple, folded paper/cardboard boxes," he continues. "Today, buyers want non-toxic materials, outstanding design elements and frequently request quite complex printing work."

Winning ways

The Director says that the packaging industry is going through difficult times. "Everyone knows that there is a global crisis with demand from all sectors being rather weak," he says. "In our case, the problem is less severe because of the benefits we reap from trading in the raw materials we use and therefore gaining the best price."

Innovation is one way to maintain an edge and attract new customers. "Within the scope of our machinery, we are developing new products and different ranges, especially in terms of shape and complexity," Mr Ip says. "We have also developed packaging materials using various types of PVC. In addition to standard PVC, for example, we can supply PET, PP or PS packaging items according to customer requirements."

The firm can also reshape or alter any standard design to meet the needs of clients with unusually shaped or complex items, such as certain toys. "Retailers know that having the right packaging for the target market can make the difference in a sale or not," Mr Ip says. "We see this flexible approach as an enabler for us to move into new markets and different and diverse sectors to obtain regular, large orders."

Perfectech supplies packaging to numerous factories on the Chinese mainland in addition to enjoying robust demand from international clients. "We have a good reputation, we are known for our quality, and buyers usually go for the sharp prices we are able to offer," Mr Ip smiles. "The US was our first overseas market, and it remains the most important outlet for us today."

Clearly focused on success, Perfectech Int'l Packaging looks assured of a bright future.
