Trade Services : Foreword
Vol 1, 2001
Services account for 85% of Hong Kong's economy, and Hong Kong is the world's ninth-largest trading jurisdiction, so the importance of trade services can hardly be overstated.
High-calibre services are vital to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Choosing the right services - and appropriate servers - can make the difference between business success or failure, especially as global economic growth sputters. Furthermore, the need for top-notch trade services will heighten as the Chinese mainland enters the World Trade Organization, creating a host of new opportunities.
Not every SME executive has easy access to complete information on the full-scope of trade services available through Hong Kong. In the past, information tended to circulate in dribs and drabs from divergent sources.
Responding to business demand, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council is pleased to launch Hong Kong Trade Services magazine. This welcome addition to TDC's stable of 14 product-oriented magazines aims to enhance communication between services providers and tens of thousands of SMEs in Hong Kong and on the Chinese mainland. While publishing details about vital trade services and the companies providing them, the new magazine also offers practical advice on a wide range of topics pertinent to SMEs.
Twice-yearly (October/April) and bilingual, Hong Kong Trade Services focuses on the finance, transport, technology, hospitality, information, professional and many other sectors. It circulates to more than 55,000 SME executives and to visitors at major Hong Kong and mainland trade fairs.
We hope you enjoy this inaugural issue. See you again in April.
